There are many reasons why you could be interested in learning more about local Stockton animal shelters and humane societies.
At first, researching rescue organizations may be overwhelming. You might be asking any of these questions:
- Where should I take my business?
- Which organization would benefit the most from my donation?
- If I'm interesting in fostering an animal, which shelters have foster programs?
- Where can I adopt on a budget?
- Where do I get the most preventative health care for my money?
I have gone through and complied data on the three biggest rescue organizations in Stockton so that you can find the information you need at a quick and easy glance.
I hope you find this information valuable, and if you have any questions, comments, or corrections I would love to hear from you. Please utilize the comment feature!

- The following descriptions explain more in depth why I rated the social media in the way that I did. the a) and b) descriptions correspond to the websites listed under a) and b) for each of the three shelters.
Descriptions
o
Animal Friend Connection Humane Society
a)
Website is informative, but lacks user
friendliness. Needs to be updated on a more frequent basis.
b)
Site is flooded with great photos of adoptable
animals and contact links, making it easy to contact the shelter. Lots of information
concerning pet safety, community events, and fundraisers for homeless animals is
made readily available.
o
City of Stockton Animal Shelter
a)
Website requires improvement. The extremely
limited number of publicly available photos do not advertise the available
animals in a way that encourages adoption. The site is difficult to maneuver
through and lacks critical information.
b)
Many of the photos are not appropriate for the
audience. Adoption photos demonstrate lack of creativity and effort.
o
Delta Humane Society
a)
Website is extremely user friendly, but lacks
compelling photographs of shelter animals and appears unprofessional. It makes
valuable information easy to access.
b)
Frequent posts about their animals occur, but
the focus tends to be on animals that have been recently adopted, rather than on
animals currently in need of adoption. The photography lacks the compelling
“adopt me factor”.
- Animal Friends Connection Humane Society is a clear number 1 in the “Social Media” category due to the wealth of information made easily available to the public concerning adoption, community events, and pet safety.
